How landscapers use BillRig

Estimate, document, send, and collect without rebuilding your paperwork at the end of the day.

01

Hardscape bid at the property

Walk the yard with the homeowner, build the patio estimate on your phone, and send the approval link before you leave the site.

02

Weekly mowing route

Send batch invoices to 20 maintenance customers at the end of the week. Track who's paid and who hasn't from one screen.

03

Irrigation add-on mid-project

The client wants a drip system added to the new planting beds. Update the estimate, show the price difference, and get approval without going back to the office.

04

Big project deposit cap

A $25,000 outdoor kitchen project needs a deposit. For Arizona or California job sites, BillRig surfaces the state's cap on the deposit field before you collect. For other states, our 50-state guide tells you the limit — apply it as you build the estimate so you don't accidentally void the contract.

BillRig vs. generic invoicing tools

BillRig stays narrow: offline field paperwork, Square payment handoff, photo-backed estimates, and supported-state deposit awareness for residential trades.

Deposit rules

Deposit Caps for Landscapers: State-by-State

Hardscape and design-build projects can carry deposits that look like construction but trigger different rules than maintenance work. Some states exclude landscaping from 'home improvement' deposit law entirely; others apply the same caps as a kitchen remodel. The line isn't obvious without checking your specific state.

For any state not listed, see our complete 50-state guide. In the product, state-rule awareness is currently scoped to Arizona, California, and federal FTC right-to-cancel notices.

Why landscapers choose BillRig

Hardscape and design-build projects look like construction to a state regulator but to you they're a yard with a patio plan. Some states exclude landscaping from 'home improvement' deposit law entirely; others apply the same caps as a kitchen remodel. The deposit math on a $25,000 outdoor kitchen project depends on which state you're in and how the contract is written.

For supported states — currently Arizona and California — BillRig surfaces the deposit cap on the deposit field based on the job site address, before you collect. For Florida's residential construction statute, Pennsylvania's HICPA threshold, and other state-specific deposit rules, our 50-state guide is your reference — apply the cap as part of the estimate, and the rest of the flow is identical.

Most landscaping work happens far from Wi-Fi. You're in the back yard, the side lot, the property line three acres in. BillRig's offline estimates work without a connection — walk the property with the homeowner, build the estimate on your phone, and send the approval link before you drive home.

Square payments handle deposits, milestone payments, and final invoicing. Maintenance customers can pay from the invoice link. Big-project customers can pay through ACH where Square supports it. Either way it's one platform, one system, one place to track who's paid and who hasn't.
